Our exclusive fourth generation engine guard-highway peg combination (EG-4) for the KLR650. The EG-4's one inch steel base tube adds additional support and the highway pegs give the rider many more choices in riding positions for greater comfort mile after mile. The highway pegs provide bonus protection for the engine side cases, and they easily fold-up when not in use.

We build the EG-4 as light as possible with the strength KLR rider's need. Side case protection comes from the one inch steel base tube and the top plate is a custom 1/8" steel plate that is ben at ninety degree angle and weld on the one tub for additinal strength. The metal plate helps keep small sharp rocks from cutting away at water hoses and electrical wires and also offers protection from roosted rocks. Unlike other engine guards that transfer the impact to the engine case, the EG-4 is built to take punishment. The new bolt-on foot peg design provides you with the option to mount other pegs. It is also possible to ride without a peg if you would prefer.

Color: Black powder coat only

Important Note: On the E series KLR650 (08+ and later) the EG-4 combination is not compatible with the stock plastic skid plate. The stock plate must be set aside when installing. For this reason and to maximum your protection package you may wish to select our custom skid plate in either black anodized or bright anodized aluminum.

SW Motech Note: The EG4 is compatible with the SW Motech skid plate but not compatible with the SW Motech crash bars.

Includes: EG-4, hardware and bolt-on footpegs.

Width Dimensions:

  • The width of the EG4 is (without pegs) 19 3/4"
  • The width of the peg is 1" .....21 3/4" overall
  • The peg extened is 4 1/2".... 28 3/4" overall

  • I have 2015 klr 650. Will the eg4 engine guard work with the stock skid plate
Question by: Matt kreifels on 2017-05-01 16:49:00

    No they are not compatible.

There are details on our instructions that show intererence with the "Bat Wings" that are the mounts for the stock wind deflector. Some customers say they have made it work but we recomend installing a skid plate to protect your investment.

  • "top loop of 3/4" steel"? I don't see any top loop of 3/4" steel, other than what look like two short mounting bosses. Is this a description of an older model? Also, you have two unanswered questions. Did they both just come in tonight, or are you guys just really bad at customer service? I like the concept of your item, but not sure about you guys. Also, no reviews on this thing?
Question by: herb berg on 2016-09-30 01:41:00

We appreciate you catching our error the description has been updated.

Concerning the two questions, they have been answered many moons ago!!!!

Click on the triangle and it shows the answer.

I hope this helps answers you questions and gives you confidence in us.

There is another way to view the questions and I will give that a try. This method puts the last question on the bottom, you still have to click on the triangles to see the other questions.

  • I have an '08 KLR 650 with Givi crash bars. is the EG4 compatible with them or would that require any modifying? also, you list 2 skid plates, can you tell me which one works best with the EG4?
Question by: Paul on 2016-01-26 00:02:00

The EG4 is compatible with the GIVI crash bars and any bars that do not connect to the triangle points on the down tube of the frame and motor mounts.  The two options we offer in our skid plate is a normal version compatible with all other engine guards except for SWM bar which we offer an SWM skid plate for those specific bars only.
