Works with all suspensions.
This HAPPY TRAILS center stand reflects two-years of research and development. In designing the centerstand our goal was to produce a product which was best in class for the following criteria:
We think we've succeeded on all counts.
Features:
1. The center stand allows the rear tire to clear the ground in most combinations of suspensions and tires. It works with lowered suspensions (1" or less only) ... aggressive tires ... road tires.2. The side stand and center stand must be deployed in a certain order to avoid interference. When dismounting, set the side stand first ... next deploy the center stand. Reverse this order when preparing to ride.
3. The product works with all skid plates Happy Trails sells for the KLR650. If you have a different skid plate, then look to see if there is an air space where your skid plate meets the foot peg bracket. If there is, then your skid plate will work with our center stand.
4. This centerstand is designed to work effectively with lowering links which lower the bike up to 1" (including the Happy Trails Lowering Link HTP4-1-10S. Our centerstand must not be used with links that lower the bike more than 1" to ensure the centerstand will have adequate clearance with the road surface when cornering.

I have no idea if the foot pegs are the same or if the swing arm is the same.
Give us a call 800-444-8770 and we can get it sent to you.
Mike,
My first question is which centerstand do you have? The fixed or the adjustable?
If it is the adjustable how far off the ground is the rear tire?
I will send you an email so we can correspond directly.
We have no idea if that will work on an 84 KLR 600, that is a totally different frame and swing arm.
There asre so many variables that it is hard to put a distinct measurement. each tire is different. The benefit of the adjustable is you can run a tall knobby for a season and then run a lower profile tire later. There are rasing links and lowering links for the KLR and that adds to the variable.
You are right about once they are set that you really don't adjust them much.
When in doubt go with the adjustable.
Ron,
We state this:
Your best option is to lower the seat and get the bike back up to stock ride hieght or at least with 1" links. We have had other customers challenge our disclaimer and find out the hard way that we mean what we say,
