The F650 GS
and Dakar are
excellent adventure touring bikes. The Dakar name inspires one to think of
touring in some of the world’s harshest terrain. Both models use the same
mounting points, so all Happy Trails products that are made for one will fit the other.
For Happy Trails panniers, racks,
and guards this bike presents a unique problem due to the design of the exhaust system.
In the Teton pannier series, our
recommendation is to limit your selection to no wider than a 9” pannier due to lean angles. Another choice is the 7.5” Targhee Pannier. This design offers storage under the exhaust and allows you to keep the heavier items in the wider part of the pannier. The width of the bike with 7.5” panniers is approximately 37” at the rear.
