The V-Strom is a very popular and capable adventure mount, but one look at the front of the engine and you can see why a quality skid plate is such an important addition. Right out there in the open just waiting to be dented or punctured by a mischievous rock or branch are the oil filter, oil cooler, exhaust and starter with the engine cases not far behind.

Our Happy Trails skid plate is designed specifically to fit the V-Strom 650 and 1000. It provides critical protection for all key components at the front, sides, and of course bottom of the motor. For additional peace of mind, we install a second layer of aluminum on the bottom of the skid plate where it receives the most abuse. Everything is then hand welded at our factory in Boise, Idaho before applying a rugged thermoplastic polyurethane coating that protects against rock chips while providing vibration and sound dampening benefits. No more sand blasted aluminum “racing stripe” down the middle of your skid plate from front tire debris.
